Probably not. For the past few months, I’ve been presenting a series of small solos for small audiences. Most of my recent posts have been cryptic illustrations of my experiences presenting these mini-pieces. While these posts are a form of documentation for the live events, they are intended more as derivative works. Rather than describing the play-by-play, I’ve tried to create a second, online version of each performance after its original presentation.
Each “second version” is aimed at a broader audience than the first, but I acknowledge that there is still perhaps a sense of, “you had to be there.” This project started as an extremely personal effort to celebrate some of my inspirational peers and re-discover my love for performance-making under all the burn-out. It’s going to be a slow process to expand the project to a wider audience, while staying connected to that original impulse.
Stay tuned to the online progress and/or meet me at The Chocolate Factory Theater in March to see how it all turns out.
