I need your old junk.
As part of an upcoming project at The Chocolate Factory Theater, I’m developing an exhibit of performance ephemera. I’d love to include as many things as possible (from as many contributors as possible), which represent our collective performance past in New York City. Do you have some things you would be willing to share for this purpose?
I’m particularly interested in collecting things like programs, postcards, tickets, fliers, and other items which include information that can be understood and recognized by relative “strangers” to the “performance community,” as well as by its denizens. I’m less interested in costumes, props, etc., unless it is something relatively iconic (i.e. would be recognizable to an audience as well as those who were in the rehearsal room).
If you have some stuff to share, please let me know by posting a comment here, or by emailing me at sarahmaxATgmailDOTcom. Everything will be returned to you, unharmed.
I’m also collecting the following information for the project, so, even if you don’t have any physical stuff to share, please consider responding to the following questions:
1. What is your favorite place in New York City to meet someone for coffee?
2. What is your favorite place in New York City to meet someone for a drink?
3. What is your favorite public place (street corner, park, crosswalk, etc.) in the City?
Thanks for your thoughts, and meet me at The Chocolate Factory March 24-26 to see where it all ends up.
I have some old programs from past shows that I can contribute to the project. I’m in the process of spring cleaning for Lunar New Year right now and can set aside a packet for you to pick up this week or next week filled with the programs.
If I find other items, I’ll add it to the packet too – I don’t need the items returned. You can do what you want with it.
Thanks, Alaine! Contact me at the email listed in the post to coordinate pick-up, when you’re ready. Cheers!
